Smaller animated GIFs with their timing intact

Use this page for animated reactions, stickers and short loops. Compression keeps every frame, its delay and the loop count. Preview the whole animation, especially gradients, thin lines and transparent edges.

Compress creates a separate output. Keep the original and check the result before sharing the smaller copy.

How to compress an image

  1. Choose your image

Open a file and check its original size.

  2. Choose a target or quality

Use a maximum file size for an upload requirement. Use quality mode when detail matters more than a particular number.

  3. Preview the result

Compare the output and check the details that matter.

  4. Download the smaller copy

Save the output when it looks right. Keep the source if you may edit it again.

Choose quality and resolution carefully

GIF quality controls the number of colors, up to 256. Target size mode lowers the color count and then dimensions when needed. It does not remove frames or shorten the animation. GIF only supports fully transparent or fully opaque pixels.

Compress under an upload limit

Choose KB or MB, or use a common size preset. 1 MB equals 1,000 KB here. The target applies to each file in a batch; check the actual downloaded size before uploading elsewhere.

Target size mode automatically lowers quality and resolution to fit. Use Quality mode for manual control.

The original stays unchanged. Check the actual output size and dimensions, then compare the result before sharing.

Leave some room below the receiving service’s limit. Its current upload rules and any attachment overhead may affect what is accepted.

Image formats and transparency

JPG works well for photos. PNG and WebP support transparency. GIF keeps animation with up to 256 colors; animated PNG and WebP are not supported.

Image compression questions

No frames are deliberately removed. The frame timing and loop count are preserved. The tool accepts up to 300 frames within its processing budget; large or complex GIFs may need a smaller source.
JPG and WebP may lose detail. PNG keeps transparency but may be resized in target size mode. Compare both images at the same display size.
Target size mode automatically lowers quality and resolution to fit. Use Quality mode for manual control.
PNG and WebP keep transparency. JPG uses a white background. GIF keeps on/off transparency and animation; animated PNG and WebP are not supported.
